Feather Insurance Reviews for Expats (Spanish Edition)

Established in 2018 by Rob Schumacher and Vincent Audoire, Feather Insurance stemmed from their personal struggles navigating the insurance landscape in Germany, despite being European themselves. Their vision was to develop insurance products that offered simplicity and transparency. After achieving success in the German market, they expanded their offerings to include affordable health insurance for expatriates relocating to Spain.

That's why Feather Insurance was designed to streamline all interactions, making processes from signing up to filing a claim and even cancellations easier and more transparent.

Feather offers 3 different plans for expat health insurance in Spain. Whilst most health insurance requires an upfront payment of a year, all of these plans can be paid monthly.

  • €45 for students under 35

  • €60 for students over 35 and non-students (digital nomads, freelancers, employed and unemployed)

  • €204 for retirees between 65 and 74 years of age

Customers consistently praise the company's responsiveness and swift sign-up process. Feather stands out for its affordability compared to other similar insurance policies. Additionally, all Feather plans offer monthly payment options and can be canceled at any time, a feature particularly appealing to customers depending on the Spanish visa they are applying for.

Pros of Feather Insurance:

  2. Comprehensive Coverage: Feather plans cover unexpected medical treatments and procedures, along with associated follow-up costs, providing peace of mind in case of unforeseen health issues.

  3. Emergency Services: In the event of injury or health problems requiring ambulance transportation to a medical facility, Feather Insurance covers the associated costs.

  6. International Coverage: With Expat insurance, coverage extends to all EU countries, ensuring continued protection even when traveling outside of Spain.

Cons of Feather Insurance:

  1. Limited Optional Add-Ons: At present, Feather Insurance does not offer any optional add-ons on their current plans, such as more comprehensive gynecological or mental health coverage. However, these options are expected to be available in a few months.
